Send
Send powers thoughtful, delightful gifting
B2B gifting is an $956 billion industry. However, legacy gifting platforms (e.g. Goody, Sendoso) require gifters to choose from a limited catalog of products. Common complaint is that gifters are stuck between generic products or gift cards - neither are thoughtful.
We wanted to engineer gifting that feels thoughtful, trustworthy, and delightful.
Using Rye, Send’s catalog is now any product sold online. The existing UI paradigm was an in-app search with live results from Google Shopping. But that doesn't communicate the breadth of our "catalog" (i.e. the internet).
If the whole internet is our catalog, why not make the URL bar our own search entrypoint?
Turn any store’s product giftable instantly.
The product, its price and the store that ships it, ready to send.
This was the key unlock. Once we showed it in sales demos, our B2B close rate went from 5% to 86%.
Ultimately, I pitched Send as an opportunity to apply Rye's API capabilities to the CEO, and incubated it as the founding design engineer.
